Douglas Fackler is a bespectacled and accident-prone police officer who unknowingly causes injury and havoc to just about everyone and everything in his path.

Personality[]

Fackler is so dedicated to his decision on becoming a police officer, having to always wanted to do so. Despite his accident-proneness, he tends to make up for any of it when needed. Nevertheless, he takes his position as a police officer very serious.

Roles in the films[]

In the first film, his wife, Violet tries to stop him from going to the police academy, but he drives off in their station wagon, and she climbs onto the hood and yells at him while he's driving. After arriving at the police academy, she is thrown off the car and lands in a bush. Later, when he is riding with an actual police officer as part of his Academy training, he was given an apple by him and tossed it out at a gang member and inadvertently started a riot, to which he and all the other recruits go to divert traffic from while the real police are handling the problem. Later on, a few days later after completion of his academy training, he graduates.

In the second film, he is seen in Captain Pete Lassard’s office and given an assignment wine turning things around in the 16th precinct. He is assigned with Officer Dooley, who becomes his training officer. They go to a donut shop where there he is taught the secret to being a good cop. There, also, a man seemingly asked for a match, but he gives him the entire pack, and unbeknownst to him that it was a ruse to start a fire in a gasoline soaked vehicle while they was in the donut shop. Sometime much later, he and Dooley go rescue Mahoney who was found out of being an undercover cop being a location on Zed and his men at the Old Zoo. He is pressured by Mauser to go with him , in which he by accident and inadvertently pushed Mauser with the rope they tied to themselves. After rescuing Mahoney and capturing Zed and his gang, and after Pete is reinstated and as captain again, Fackler is later seen attending Tackleberry and Kirkland’s wedding as one of the honor officers with the others.

In the third film, Fackler opposes his wife's decision to join the police academy to become his crime-fighting partner to strengthen their marriage. His squad car blocked their station wagon, so she drove in his squad car with the siren going off while he jumped on the hood, and riding it from their home to the academy. In a reverse-prone to the first film, he gets thrown off his squad car while his wife enlists.

  • He is one of the characters who does not appear in the animated series.
  • He is similar to Lt. Carl Proctor in regards to being accident prone and personality.
  • Lance Kinsey (who played Lt. Carl Proctor in the second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth films) originally auditioned for the role of Douglas Fackler.
